How About an Open, Public Debate on HR 811?
"The language of the 62-page bill is so dangerously ambiguous in so many critical areas, that we ought to expose the ambiguities to the light before HR811 becomes the law of the land and our elections are thrown to the courts to decide what means what."
By Nancy Tobi
There is a raging and often destructive debate among voting activists. The source of the discord is "The Holt Bill," a piece of federal election reform legislation named for its primary author, Democratic Congressman Rush Holt from the great state of New Jersey. The destructive nature of the exchanges among activists has led some of us who oppose the bill to propose, in the best of our American democratic traditions, a public debate on the merits of the bill.

ACTION ALERT: House Admin Comm Spiking FL-24 Investigation
The following emergency response action comes from The PEN (Peoples' E-Mail Network)
Please phone the House Committee on Administration (HCA) TODAY using the phone numbers provided below.
Everyone has heard about the dramatically suspicious results in the Jennings congressional race in FL-13, but did you know that there were massive parallel shenanigans going on in FL-24 as well? And yet we got a tip late today that tomorrow the House Administration committee is secretly, and without public notice, preparing to dismiss their own inquiry into this other still NOT conceded race run by Clint Curtis, the famous voting software rigging whistle blower.

NOW on PBS: Will New Voting Machines Cause an Election Day Debacle?
Watch PBS tonight!
September 8, 2006
Programming Note http://www.pbs.org/now/
Airdate: Friday, September 8, 2006, at 8:30 p.m. on PBS.
(Check local listings at http://www.pbs.org/now/sched.html.)
Will new voting machines cause an Election Day debacle? This time on NOW.
Will new voting machines cure election headaches or cause them? The Help America Vote Act divided 3.1 billion dollars among all 50 states to update their voting systems with new technology. On Friday September 8, at 8:30 pm, NOW takes a close look at one Michigan county on Primary Day to see how the new machines are working, but also checks in on other states, including Texas, Iowa, New Mexico, and - you guessed it - Ohio. What we found was alarming - computer and human error, nonexistent contingency plans, and extreme vulnerability to tampering.
