The Election Operations Assessment project was undertaken by EAC to produce a scientifically-founded risk assessment tool that will facilitate informed decision making by EAC and its Technical Guidelines Development Committee (TGDC) when developing voluntary voting system guidelines. Learn more about the project by reading our frequently asked questions.

EAC has certified four voting systems to date

Four voting systems have been federally certified through EAC's testing and certification program. Those systems include the Unisyn Open Elect 1.0 (optical scan), the Microvote EMS 4.0 (direct recording electronic), the ES&S Unity 3.2.0.0 (optical scan), and the Premier Assure 1.2 (optical scan and direct recording electronic). EAC Chair Donetta Davidson was chosen by the members of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) to receive the 2010 NASS Freedom Award. The NASS press release states that Chair Davidson "will be recognized for her numerous creative and technical contributions to the electoral process in the United States." EAC offers information to states on key election management topics

$750,000 in federal grants are available to fund college poll workers

EAC is accepting applications for a competitive grant program to recruit, train, and support college students to assist state and local governments in the administration of elections by serving as nonpartisan poll workers or assistants. The grants, authorized by the Help America Vote Act, provide $750,000 in grant funds for three-year awards. Read more
