Citizens who speak Cherokee, Dakota, Navajo and Yup'ik, the most commonly spoken Native American and Alaska Native languages in the U.S., will now have access to federal election voter guides in their native languages. Read more

EAC has several projects underway designed to better serve military and overseas citizens who register and vote absentee under the provisions of the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). This includes Draft UOCAVA Pilot Program Testing Requirements and a Draft Voting System Pilot Program Testing & Certification Manual. This $500,000 grant competition is focused on improving voting technology and accessibility for recently injured military personnel.  The research will result in a better understanding of how to enhance, augment, and develop voting equipment and improve election processes and voting technology needed for this population and others with disabilities. During the next few weeks, the EAC expects to announce plans for the remaining voting access grant funds appropriated by Congress. Representatives from the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Federal Election Commission (FEC), and the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) met recently to sign a memorandum of understanding to establish the guidelines for cooperation in the organization of the Seventh Inter-American Meeting of Electoral Management Bodies that will be held on May 6-7 in the U.S. capital.
