National Civic Summit, Minneapolis, July 15-17

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and the Citizens League are hosting a National Civic Summit in Minneapolis this week, in conjunction with the summer convention of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS).
Election Defense Alliance is one of scores civic and public advocacy organizations that will be attending and making presentations during this three-day social laboratory in civic participation.
We look forward to making contact with our counterparts in other organizations, and with state election officials we hope will drop in from their nearby convention, to exchange ideas about how to increase citizen participation in civic life.
If you are anywhere near range of downtown Minneapolis, consider making the trip for this special event. Registration for the two full days of presentations (TH 7.15 and FRI 7.16) is free; admission to the opening night party and "National Tweetup" is by separate admission (or free if you volunteer to help!). See more at National Tweetup.
EDA will be in Exhibit Booth 117. Please come by so we can meet you. Our presentation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 2:50 p.m. in room Marquette IX.

The Need
Achieving common ground for common good is the business of democracy. In an era when political polarization and special interest agendas too often take center stage, the National Civic Summit invites U.S. citizens - each individual and organization - to re-imagine citizenship for our time.
Key Questions
- “How can we increase civic imagination and capacity to solve today’s challenges in ways that serve the public interest?”
- “How do we use technology to move from isolation and overload to effective collaboration and solutions?”
The National Civic Summit is a collaboration of Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and the Citizens League with civic support by Target Corporation, General Mills and Blue Earth Interactive.
